Introduction of the OAAD Oncology and Cancer Research Group

The OAAD Oncology and Cancer Research Group is one of the hundreds of sub-research groups of OAAD that will focus on delivering quality research on cancer treatment, understanding of the latest trends and mechanisms of cancer diagnosis, and therapeutic approach for current cancer prevention and aid prognosis. The research group has carried out several projects which involve a review of the survival rate of breast cancer and lung cancer across the African continent using a meta-analysis approach which is the first of its kind to be done in Africa. The results of which might proffer a solution to current issues faced by African due to non-communicable diseases like cancer. Currently, we are also surveying the diagnostic accuracy of some common equipment used for breast cancer screening in Africa, to see how effective and how much of this equipment is available in hospitals across Africa.
