We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate our dear friend, colleague, and active member of the GlobalOrganization of African Academic Doctors (OAAD), Dr. Balarabe B. Ismail! His incredible journey and groundbreaking achievements inspire us all, and we couldn't be prouder to call him a part of our esteemed organization.

His research is genuinely revolutionary. He has dedicated years to unlocking the incredible potential of Africa's "Tree of Life"—the baobab fruit. He created the first complete chemical map of the fruit and developed innovative ways to extract its powerful antioxidants, which are even more potent than those found in blueberries! He's even explored how to make a caffeine-free "baobab coffee." So far, he has published 47 SCI papers in China, including 17 first/corresponding author papers, which have been cited more than 2,000 times.

Award Winning Global Scientist, Dr. Balarabe Receives an Award

Today, Dr. Balarabe is a Distinguished Researcher and an Associate Professor at the Future Food Laboratory of the Innovation Center of the Yangtze River Delta, Zhejiang University. He is focusing on turning agricultural waste into valuable new products, a true "green" mission. His excellence is recognized internationally, as he serves on the editorial boards of top scientific journals like Chemical Engineering Journal and recently won funding from China's National Natural Science Foundation.

Beyond his stellar research, Dr. Balarabe is an invaluable asset to the Global Organization of African Academic Doctors (OAAD). He has actively participated in numerous events under our umbrella, generously sharing his expertise, representing our mission with distinction, and fostering the very spirit of academic excellence, entrepreneurial orientation and collaboration that OAAD stands for. He is not just a brilliant scientist but also a bridge-builder, connecting researchers and institutions across the world. On a personal note, he has found a warm home in Jiashan, China, which he calls the most livable city.

 

Dr. Balarabe Presents His Highly Impactful Research at a High-level International Conference

Before Jiashan, Dr. Balarabe's path has taken him across the globe, from his native Nigeria to the UK, the USA, and finally to China. He graduated with top honors from Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Nigeria, earned his Master's from the University of Greenwich in the UK, and then received a prestigious Chinese Government Scholarship and completed his PhD at Zhejiang University.
