SUMMARY:Digital Transformation Strategy for Africa: a Webinar
DESCRIPTION:The African economy offers a wealth of opportunities for growth and development and becoming increasingly important as a part of the global economy. \nWith 1.3 billion people (majority being young people) and growing middle class\, the continent is experiencing high rates of economic growth\, with several countries emerging as new centers of economic activity. Africa has the potential to become a major player in global trade and investment\, as it seeks to integrate more deeply into the global economy. \nThese factors highlight the importance of African economy in the global context and the need for continued investment and development in the region. \nSome of the key opportunities in the African economy include: \n1.0 Agriculture: Africa has fertile land and a growing demand for food\, making agriculture a potential driver of economic growth. \neveryevery.ng\n2.0 Natural resources: Africa is rich in minerals\, oil\, and other natural resources\, and there is growing demand for these resources globally. \n3.0 Technology: Africa is home to a rapidly growing tech sector\, with many innovative startups and a large\, young population with a strong appetite for technology. \ncitinewsroom.com\n4.0 Tourism: Africa is home to diverse wildlife and breathtaking landscapes\, making it a potential tourist destination. \nHowever\, there are also several challenges that need to be addressed in order to fully realize the potential of the African economy\, including: \n1.0 Infrastructural Deficiencies: inadequate infrastructure\, such as roads\, electricity\, and water supply\, can hinder economic growth and development. \n2.0 Corruption: Although Africa is not alone in this\, corruption remains a significant problem in many African countries and undermines the overall business environment. \n3.0 Political instability: Just like anywhere else\, political instability and conflict can disrupt economic growth and discourage investment. \n4.0 Lack of human capital: Many African countries lack the adequately educated workforce/skills needed to support a growing and modern economy. \nDespite these challenges\, there is growing optimism about the future of the African economy and its potential for growth and development in the coming years. The following are some ways forward for Africa to participate well in a booming Global Digital Economy. \n1.0 Innovation in education\, skills\, and entrepreneurship is crucial for participating in the global digital economy. \nempresa-journal.com\n2.0 Entrepreneurship needs to be promoted to encourage the creation of new businesses that can drive innovation and economic growth in the digital era. \nWe welcome your support and participation in working with major organizations in Africa. \nSigned: JOINT ORGANIZING COMMITTEE

SUMMARY:UNITED NATIONS WORLD CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION DAY:   UNIDO GLOBAL CALL\, SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGSs) AND BROAD-BASED INVESTMENTS IN AFRICA
DESCRIPTION:Organization of African Academic Doctors  \n& \nWasomi Charity Foundation \nWith guidance from Ministry of Foreign Affairs\, Federal Republic of Nigeria (Shanghai Consulate) \nAnd in partnership with 8 other International Organizations Across Africa and Asia (details below). \nPresents \n  \nUNITED NATIONS WORLD CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION DAY:  \nUNIDO GLOBAL CALL\, SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGSs) AND BROAD-BASED INVESTMENTS IN AFRICA \n  \nIntroduction: \nThis e-conference is in continuance of the conversation advanced during the most recent UNIDO Global Call 2022 and in readiness for the ‘UNIDO Global Call 2023’. Additionally\, engaging our own pie of the globe and alongside over 100\, 000 people around the world\, we commemorate the United Nations “World Creativity and Innovation Day” 2023 (21 April) \n https://www.un.org/en/observances/creativity -and-innovation-day \n  \nSimilar to the UNIDO Global Call which is managed by the Investment and Technology Promotion (ITP) Division of UNIDO and collaboratively implemented through its 9 global ITP Offices in Bahrain\, Japan\, Italy\, Germany\, Nigeria\, Shanghai\, Beijing\, Russia and Korea\, the World Creativity and Innovation Day calls on “the world to embrace the idea that innovation is essential for harnessing the economic potential of nations and that innovation\, creativity and mass entrepreneurship can provide new momentum towards achieving the SDGs while achieving reduction in global development imbalances. \nWith just seven years to go and the huge set back on the global economy arising from impact of the pandemic\, Africa is already significantly left behind in achievement of the SDGs. However\, all hope is not lost as preliminary findings from our research and revelation from UNIDO Global Call show that although there are limited tools for innovation\, what we call “the-intention-to-innovate” in Africa is very high. This conference is part of our intercontinental engagement series in feeling the pulse of innovation as we trudge towards contributing our quota to agenda 2030’s aspirations of ending poverty\, protecting the planet\, and ensuring peace and prosperity for all. This is because if the SDGs succeed everywhere else but fail in Africa\, humanity has collectively failed to actualize our focus which is "that none be left behind". \nOrganizers: \nThe conference has been put together by the Organization of African Academic Doctors (OAAD) in Collaboration with Wasomi Charity Foundation (WCF). \nGuiding Unit: \nMinistry of Foreign Affairs\, Federal Republic of Nigeria \nConsulate General\, Shanghai\, P. R. China \nPartners \nNEF Int’l \nTogetherPeople International (TPI) \nAntsPlan World Family Forum (WFF) \nShanghai Mingde Institute of Learning Organizations (SMILO) \nAsia-Africa Alliance of Learning Organizations (AAALO) \nNiji Group \nDiplomontage Productions Ltd. \nInstitute of Nigeria-China Development Studies\, University of Lagos (INCDS) \nGoal: \nThe goal of the Conference Series is to bring together stakeholders from different sectors to exchange ideas\, share best practices\, and strengthen the platform for collaboration in support of the SDGs in Africa. \nObjectives: \nThe main objectives of the conference are to: \n1.) Commemorate the World Creativity and Innovation Day \n2.) Showcase the efforts of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) through the UNIDO Global Call Series as carried out by its Investment and Technology Promotion offices (ITPOs). \n3.) Expand the pool of innovative African companies that may participate in future UNIDO Global Calls. \n4.) Bring experts and international organizations to discuss diverse models of entrepreneurship and accompanying investment options for investors focusing on Africa. \n5.) To contribute to the provision of platforms for stakeholders to exchange ideas and best practices for achieving the SDGs in Africa. \n6.) Facilitate discussions on the challenges and opportunities in implementing the SDGs in Africa. \n7.) Identify best practices and successful case studies related to the SDGs in Africa. \n8.) Provide a platform for stakeholders from various sectors to network and collaborate on SDG initiatives in Africa. \n9.) Promote the role of public-private partnerships in achieving the SDGs in Africa. \n10.) Create awareness on investment opportunities and diverse practical funding pathways for Africans. \nTarget Audience: \nThe conference is targeted at a wide range of stakeholders\, including policymakers\, representatives from the public and private sectors\, NGOs\, academia\, and civil society organizations. \nExpected Outcomes: \n1.) More flow of investment for advancing the sustainable businesses of African innovators \n2.) Increased awareness of the role of innovation and broad-based investments in driving sustainable development in Africa; \n3.) Enhanced awareness about the annual UNIDO Global Call Series \n4.) Improved understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Africa in realizing the SDGs; \n5.) Improved collaboration between UNIDO-Shanghai ITPO\, large scale business owners\, SMEs in Africa\, and other stakeholders in advancing sustainable development in Africa. \nHosts: \n1.) Dr. Odii Elijah (President OAAD) \n2.) Fadairo Yusuf (Coordinator WCF) \n Guest Speakers: \n1.) AMB. Ogun Chimezie (Consul\, General Shanghai Consulate) \n2.) Engr. Adeniji Kolawole ( MD. CEO. Niji Group) \n3.) Prof. Olufemi Saibu ( Director\, UNILAG - INCDS) \n4.) Ms. Chinyere Luke ( CEO. Eat-Healthy Palm oil production limited) \n5.) Leonard Tchuta (LEO) PhD (Chairman and CTO\, SBOS) \nConference date: \n📇 Saturday\, April 22\, 2023 \nLocation: \nLocation/Venue: Conference hall \nConsulate General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria\, Shanghai \nAnd Online via (Zoom) \nMeeting ID: 843 5180 3534 \nPasscode: 1122 \nTime:  \n⏲️ 8:00 PM (China time) \n⏲️ 8:00 AM (New York) \n⏲️ 1:00 PM (Nigeria time) \n  \nConclusion: \nThe conference on United Nations World Creativity And Innovation Day: UNIDO Global Call\, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Broad-Based Investments in Africa is a unique opportunity for stakeholders to come together to exchange ideas\, learn from one another\, and collaborate on initiatives in support of the SDGs in Africa through the lens of UNIDO Global Call. By bringing together experts from various sectors\, the conference will promote the role of innovation and broad-based investments in achieving these goals in Africa and reduce developmental imbalances. \n  \nSee event flyer for more details \nAlso check out this link for more details: \nhttps://africanacademicdoctors.org/united-nations-world-creativity-and-innovation-day-unido-global-call-sustainable-development-goals-sdgss-and-broad-based-investments-in-africa/ \n  \n  \n
